Eritrean Catholics gather on the first and third Sundays of each month to celebrate Mass in the Ge’ez Oriental Catholic Rite, led by their chaplain Fr Ghebreysus Ghebrezghi, known to many as ‘Fr G’ – especially in the parish of St John Henry Newman, Leeds where he is also Assistant Priest. Fr G also ministers to Eritrean communities in Sheffield and across the Pennines in Salford.
In honor of the anniversary, the Mass was attended by Right Reverend Marcus Nigel Stock, MA, STL, Tenth Bishop of Leeds and the Parish Priest of Mother of Unfailing Help (in which the Holy Rosary church is situated), Very Rev Canon Matthew Habron.
